The Bremhill history project

Wiltshire VCH has established an exciting and innovative partnership  with the Bremhill Parish History Group. Together we will produce a new, research based history of the Parish and its villages and the Bremhill chapter for the Chippenham area VCH 'red book'.

The Group, chaired by local resident Martin Nye, has recently been awarded a 2 year £16,000 grant by the national Heritage Lottery Fund, as a major contribution to the overall project. Wiltshire VCH is also contributing financially and with suppport and advice. A professional historian has been appointed to work part time on original historical records.

The project has a particular focus on engagement with the local Bremhill community. It  is encouraging the participation of parish residents in the historical research, and representatives in each of the parish villages have already agreed to coordinate the local volunteer effort. The ambitious end results of the project will include a new book on the history of Bremhill, the Bremhill chapter for the Wiltshire VCH Chippenham area 'red book, an inaugural Bremhill History Fair, historical material for Chippenham schools, and new historical guides for visitors to the parish.
