Chris Caswill

Chris Caswill is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and on the Academy Council. He was the Councillor for  Chippenham Monkton ward for ten years, retiring in May 2017. Chris  has a history degree and a keen interest Chippenham's history.   He and his wife Lynne live in Cherhill.

Chris has an Honours Degree in History from Queens’ College, Cambridge. He was for 15 years the Director of Research at the Economic and Social Research Council in Swindon. He is on the Council of the Academy of Social Sciences, Deputy Chair of their Policy Working Group, and  Visiting Research Fellow at Manchester University.  Chris continues to work on his family history, is member of the Society of Genealogists, and has traced his Caswill (with an ‘i’) ancestors back to the 17th Century.
